What is my business
worth?

An indicative enterprise value range for an Australian small or medium business, from your industry, revenue and (if you know it) normalised profit. Every step of the arithmetic is shown, so you can see what moves the number.

Industry

Bands are typical for Australian SMEs at this scale. Your business may sit outside them.

Annual revenue

Last full financial year, excluding GST.

Normalised profit (EBITDA), if known

Profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, after paying the owner a market salary and removing one-off items. Leave blank to use a typical margin for your industry. What counts as normalised?

How dependent is the business on you, the owner?
How much revenue is recurring or contracted?
Largest customer as a share of revenue

Enter annual revenue (and profit if you know it) to see an indicative range. Nothing you type here is sent anywhere.

How to read the range

The calculator multiplies normalised earnings by an industry multiple band, then adjusts for owner dependence, recurring revenue and customer concentration. It shows enterprise value: the operating business, before adding surplus cash and deducting debt. Where a real business lands inside the band, or outside it, depends on evidence the calculator cannot see.

What a signed report adds

  • Verified normalised earnings, with every add-back explained and sourced.
  • Evidence for the multiple: the risks and comparables specific to your business, not a generic band.
  • The bridge from enterprise value to the value of your shares: working capital, surplus assets, debt and cash.
  • Whether an earnings approach is even the right method. Asset-heavy, loss-making and high-growth businesses often need a different lens.
  • A stated purpose, basis, date and limitations, so buyers, partners, advisers and courts can rely on it.

A standard signed report is $1,495 + GST for suitable matters, with the fee fixed before we start. See all fees

All questions and answers

How accurate is this calculator?

It is arithmetic on typical Australian SME multiple bands, adjusted for three common risk factors. It cannot see your customer list, your lease, your margins or your balance sheet, so treat the range as a sense check, not a valuation. A signed report replaces the assumptions with evidence.

What if I do not know my EBITDA or profit?

Leave profit blank. The calculator applies a typical normalised earnings margin band for your industry to your revenue and shows the assumed earnings on screen, with a deliberately wider range. Entering your actual normalised profit narrows it.

Is the result enterprise value or the value of my shares?

Enterprise value: the operating business before financing. To get to the value of your shares, add surplus cash and non-operating assets and deduct debt. Read enterprise value versus equity value.

Is my information stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored anywhere. We only record that the calculator was used, without any figures, so we know the tool is useful.

Can I use this range to sell my business or settle a dispute?

No. It is not a valuation and no one should rely on it. Buyers, partners, courts and tax advisers need a signed report that states its purpose, basis, evidence and limitations. See estimate versus signed report.
