How a Sydney engagement runs
The starting point is a call to confirm what is being valued, for what purpose and as at what date. Once that is clear, we set out the scope and a fixed fee in writing before any analysis begins. Because the practice is based in Double Bay, clients across the Eastern Suburbs, the CBD, the North Shore, the Inner West, Parramatta and Western Sydney, the Hills, the Sutherland Shire and the Northern Beaches are welcome to meet in person by arrangement, though most still choose a video call for convenience. Financial records, contracts and other supporting documents are uploaded through a secure link rather than sent as email attachments. Once the analysis is complete, a draft valuation is issued for your review, questions are worked through, and the signed report follows. A site visit is not part of the standard process; if a matter genuinely calls for one, it is agreed and scoped in advance rather than assumed.
What happens, and when
| Step | What you do | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| 1. First call | Describe the business and the purpose of the valuation | Confirm suitability and outline next steps |
| 2. Scope and fee | Confirm you want to proceed | Set out the scope and fixed fee in writing |
| 3. Information | Upload records through the secure link | Review the documents and raise any queries |
| 4. Draft and sign-off | Review the draft, in Double Bay if you prefer, or by video | Finalise and issue the signed report |
What we value in Sydney
Greater Sydney supports a wide range of businesses, and engagements come from across the metropolitan area rather than any one part of it. Professional and financial services firms are common around the CBD and the Eastern Suburbs, alongside healthcare, retail and hospitality businesses serving the same communities. The Inner West and the Northern Beaches are home to creative agencies, trades and owner-operated retail. Manufacturing, logistics, construction and trade businesses are common through Western Sydney, the Hills and the Sutherland Shire, and Parramatta hosts a growing base of professional and healthcare services. The approach does not change with the postcode: understand the earnings a business actually generates, the assets and obligations attached to it, and the basis on which a valuation is required. Our industry pages set out common considerations by sector.
Working with your Sydney accountant or lawyer
A large share of Sydney engagements are instructed by an accountant or lawyer on behalf of their client, and just as many begin with an owner who brings their adviser in once scope and fee are agreed. Either way, the report is written so a professional adviser can review the assumptions and methodology behind it, not only the final figure. With your authority, we are also glad to speak directly with your accountant or lawyer to confirm information or answer questions once a draft is available. If you are the adviser, our page for accountants and lawyers explains how instructed engagements typically work.
Timing and fees for Sydney businesses
A standard signed valuation report starts from $1,495 plus GST ($1,644.50 including GST) for suitable, straightforward matters, such as a single trading entity with reasonably organised records. Matters that are more complex, involve multiple entities, a historical valuation date or court-related work are quoted after a short scoping conversation, once we understand what is actually involved. For straightforward matters, a typical draft is ready 5 to 7 business days after we have received everything requested. Because the engagement runs remotely, there are no travel costs to factor in, wherever in Sydney the business is based. See our fees and process for more detail, or get in touch to discuss your matter.
General information only. Valuation Group is based in Double Bay, Sydney, and does not maintain an office in Sydney. Engagements are delivered remotely unless a site visit is agreed at scoping.
