How a Gold Coast engagement runs
We start with a phone call to understand the business, whether it is a tourism operator, a hospitality venue, a building trade business or something else, and to confirm the purpose and date of the valuation. From there, we set out the scope and a fixed fee in writing so there is no ambiguity about what is included before work begins. You then upload financial records, leases, contracts and any other relevant material through a secure link, and a video call is available whenever it is easier to talk something through than to write it up. Once the analysis is finished, a draft valuation goes to you for review, and the signed report follows once your questions have been addressed. There is no Gold Coast office involved, and a site visit does not form part of the standard process, though it can be arranged if a matter genuinely needs one. Our business valuation calculator is a reasonable starting point if you want a rough indication before that first call.
What happens, and when
| Step | What you do | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Enquiry | Call or use the contact form | Confirm suitability and next steps |
| 2. Scope and fee | Agree to proceed | Issue the scope and fixed fee in writing |
| 3. Documents | Upload records to the secure link | Review the material and query anything unclear |
| 4. Draft and sign-off | Review the draft and respond | Finalise and issue the signed report |
What we value on the Gold Coast
Tourism and hospitality are a significant part of the Gold Coast economy, and we regularly value venues, tour operators, accommodation businesses and food and beverage operations. Building and construction trades are just as common, reflecting ongoing development across the region, from residential builders to specialist trade contractors. Health and allied health practices have grown alongside the population, and retail businesses, both standalone and franchised, remain a steady source of enquiries. Whatever the business, a sale of the business or an ownership change tends to be the most common trigger for a valuation, though shareholder, tax and family law matters come up regularly too. The work itself focuses on sustainable earnings, the assets and obligations that transfer with the business, and the basis that fits the reason behind the engagement.
Working with your Gold Coast accountant or lawyer
Several Gold Coast matters are instructed by an accountant or lawyer acting for their client, and others start directly with the owner, who then loops their adviser in once scope and fee are agreed. In both cases, the finished report is written for professional review, setting out assumptions and methodology so an adviser can assess the basis for the figure rather than simply accept it. With your authority, we are happy to speak with your accountant or lawyer directly once a draft is circulated, to confirm details or answer their questions. If you are the adviser on a matter, our page for accountants and lawyers explains how we typically structure instructed engagements.
Timing and fees for Gold Coast businesses
Standard signed reports start from $1,495 plus GST ($1,644.50 including GST) for suitable, straightforward matters. Matters that are more involved, such as multiple related entities, hospitality businesses with complex lease or franchise arrangements, or a historical valuation date, are quoted once the scope is understood. A typical draft is ready 5 to 7 business days after all requested information has been received, and because the work is carried out remotely, no travel costs are added regardless of where on the Gold Coast the business is based. Full detail is on our fees page, and you can contact us to discuss your matter.
General information only. Valuation Group is based in Double Bay, Sydney, and does not maintain an office in Gold Coast. Engagements are delivered remotely unless a site visit is agreed at scoping.
